The Hangover Trophy started off on New Year’s day 1984 between a Hove Rugby Club side and a Robin Hood side. Below is a newsletter from 2004 that gives some insight into the game.

Always played for Charity – The Martlets Hospice (formally Coppercliff) and always on New Years Day. Since then, it has happened every year and long may it continue.
