HOT – In the 1990s

The Hangover Trophy (HOT) in the early years.

There is a photo of Val Hayes (who? I hear you say). Well, the HOT was first played for the Coppercliffe (now Martlets) Hospice between the Robin Hood and Hove Rugby Club. Brian Hayes was the landlord of the RH and Val was his wife. She passed and when Brian left the Robin Hood, Robbo from the Seafield (Val’s brother) took over the sponsorship and renamed it the Val Hayes Memorial Trohpy. But it is still the “Hangover” to one and all…

The HOT is a Hove tradition and has brought lots of fun to a day when traditionally we do very little. Long may it continue.
