The 1960's saw the Club increase in size and secure 2 pitches on Nevill Rec.
Just two new VPs this year and none missing, A new 1st team Captain and all change for the Vice Captain in this last season of the 1960's decade.
Two VPs lost and two VPs newly elected. Jack Woolley also becomes a trustee. After a year out the 'B' XV return with more players joining the Club.
A new Chairman sees a new broom sweeping with some structural changes to the Club as well as the usual personnel changes. One thing of note is that this season saw the death of the 'B's and the rise of the Beefeaters - now known colloquially (thanks to one Tim Baglole) as "The Beef" or even "Beef".
I'm only musing here but I believe that Jack Woolley (new Chairman) used to play for the Yeomanry and so was possibly more keen on retaining that military connection and so he added the Beefeaters name to the Yeomen team (first named in 1963-1964) and presumbly would have done more. But for that you will need to go to the 2000s decade!
Again, several personnel changes in the officers and committee people and it does seem a bit of a merry-go-round at times. Two new VPs and one mssing from the list so presumably passed.
This season seems to be one of change with new roles, split roles and plenty of new incumbents. Reading between the lines this means more teams. There is the first mention of a Colts XV and Geoff Schaverian is in charge of this. My recollection is that he was a teacher at one of the local schools and so this makes some sense. Still I wasn't previously aware of any foray into Youth until around 1974...
Three VPs no longer on the list and so presumed to have passed. One new VP elected to the congregation and CP now awarded an Honorary Life Vice Presidency. Other movements in the ranks all explained...
The Yeomen were born - replacing the Extra 'A's and so effectively the 3rd team between the 'A's and the 'B's.
Three new VPs were elected and a rash of personnel changes amongst the officers as the pack is shuffled yet again. Team Secretary role is now split into two - presumably to reduce workload.
The start of a new decade for the Club and more teams and pitches were needed.
