Men’s 1st XV v KCS Old Boys 20/03/2010

Home – London 2 South East

Report by Andy Ward

Won 29-18

Sorry for the delay – it’s been a busy week. Your correspondent was late arriving but still just in time to partake of the lunch – which was damn fine as I recall. Roger even plugged my match reports – but I suspect that was only to have a go at Richard Lewes – immortalised in last week’s journal!

A bit of a scratch team as several not available but a decent enough performance without ever hitting the heights of greatness. A pair of tries at the start and the end of the game by Sean separated the scores (more or less) and in between those it was a bit nip and tuck.

KCS played reasonably well considering their hammering of the previous week although I’m led to believe they had many away at Twickenham for that particular mauling.

A comfortable enough win and one that mathematically confirms our second place for the season. There is talk of the RFU trying to scratch the Warlingham game in favour of playing the play off games all on the same date. We should resist that as it’s £5K or so lost for ever and we’re not in a position to ignore these things.

Man of the match: Jamie.
