Men’s 1st XV v Crawley 04/12/2004

Home – London 4 South East

Report by Andy Ward

Won 39-17

Hove got off to a flying start in this “must win” game against Sussex rivals Crawley and were soon 3 tries to the good. Hove’s lack of a kicker was evident and this may cost them dear at some stage in a tighter game. The second half carried on much as the first, but Hove were soon down to 14 men – with flanker John “Hands in the ruck” Oades getting 10 minutes for his tradecraft and and injury after both subs were already on. This let Crawley in towards the end of the game and led to a few uncomfortable moments for the Hove coaching staff.
