Club Highlights
After 10 years as President, Jack Woolley stepped down and we had a new President in John Shelton. Only one newly appointed VP – Jeremy Cartland and no-one missing from the list this year.
The following non-playing changes were made:
- RF. McLeod replaced D.J. Money as Assistant Secretary
- R.J. Lewis replaced J.W> Carr as Sussex County Rep
- Mick Cleary stepped down as Schools Secretary and teh position was vacant
- The Personnel Officer position was removed and so Chris Basley ceased in this role
- The following new roles were created within the Officer List:
- Bar Manager – Alastair Bourne
- House Manager – P. Hodgson
- Bar Rota Secretary – Chris Basley
- Social Secretary – Biggles (Ray Bowyer)
- Nick Baxter took over from Dolly Dearson as Forward Planing Officer
- Jeremy Cartland took over from D. Elmes as Secretary of the 200 Club
- Tim Dakers was appointed Hon Solicitor
It needs to be said that some of the new roles were already in existence but NOT part of the Officers’ List.
The following Playing Changes were made:
- M. Cobbs took over as 1s Captain from D. Hughes
- G.L. John took over as A Captain from Tim Burnage
- Tad (the Pole) Piotrowski took over from R. McLeod as Yeomen Captain
- P.J. Fryer took over from T. Richardson as Beefeaters Captain.
- Rick Betts stood down as B Captain and the position wasn’t listed
- The U19 appeared with Pete Small as Captain (surely Manager?)
- The U16 Captaincy moved from C. Wigglesworth to P.V. Verner
- The U14 Captaincy moved from P.V. Verner to C. Newhouse.
In addition to the above – the following Mini Rugby playing positions have been published this year:
- Under 12 Coaches – Keith Clement and Roger Finlason
- Under 11 Coaches – Dave Thompson and Jim Gaffney
- Under 10 Coaches – Mike Spencer-Smith and Peter Hodgson
- Under 9 Coaches – Stuart Hartshorn and Barry Ward
- Under 8 Coaches – Jeff Knuckey

The Social Committee has gone from the handbook and the Mini Committee is now becoming more fully formed as the Junior Rugby takes off. However, I have moved the coaches out of the Committee Structure and into the Plying Structure under Officers.
