Playing Highlights
Sadly, no actual scores again this season – just the fixtures. However, Hove qualified for the Sussex Cup Final which was held at Worthing (see photo below) and they played Lewes.
Lewes were probably the top Sussex side in the 1970s and won the Sussex Cup several times. Hove fought well and were in front until the dying seconds when Lewes got a penalty and the full time score was 9-9.
In extra time Lewes pressure told and at the end of the second period of extra time, Alan Mitchell the Lewes scrum half dived in and grabbed the ball from Mark Cobbs for a touchdown. Final score 15-9 to Lewes.
Thanks to Mick Baxter and Pete Allen for the team and match info.
