The table below shows theresults for the season for the 1st XV. Over time I will try to capture lower XVs but it is a long job – so any help appreciated.
Sadly – very few actual results for this year and just an indication of W/L/D for most, if not all, of the games.

Brighton Vs Hove
I reproduce below a match report from the Brighton & Hove Herald from December 1965 that reports on the fixture between Brighton and Hove (presumably at Horsdean). Also, a brief snippet from the second team game. My thanks to John Honeysett – Club Historian Brighton FC for this.
Brighton win the clash with Hove
Brighton entertained Hove in the local derby, and won convincingly by 17points (one goal, one try, one dropped goal, and two penalties) to 3 points, (one penalty).
The superiority was in the Brighton front row in the set pieces, where Holt and the new prop forward Powell combined well.
Hove opened the scoring after 25 minutes with a penalty well taken by JACKSON, their full-back, after the Brighton pack had been penalised for a scrum infringement. Five minutes later Brighton were awarded when a Hove player was pulled up for lying on the ball and PICKERING made no mistake with the kick
Shortly afterwards the Brighton three-quarters made a fine run for the line, only falling short when Watt’s pass was adjudged forward to Harbidge on the wing, so the sides turned around with the score at three all.
After resumption of play the Brighton pack pushed Hove on to the defensive and from a quick heel on the Hove 10-yard line, the ball went out to NICHOLLS who dropped a magnificent drop goal from 45 yards. From this moment the Hove side became somewhat became somewhat demoralised which enabled the Brighton three-quarters to capitalise on any mistakes that were made.
Midway through the second half, Brighton were again awarded a penalty for another scrum infringement which PICKERING converted.
The best movement of the afternoon developed from a set scrummage near the Hove line, when Brighton gained quick possession and the half back pair worked a dummy movement resulting in WATTS going over in the corner.
The final score of the afternoon was made by county centre WATTS who, from just inside the Hove half, kicked the ball forward, took the ball on with his feet, finally outran all the Hove defenders and scored near the posts. PICKERING made an easy conversion.
While the final score might suggest an easy win for Brighton this was by no means true.
Brighton “A” were narrowly defeated by Hove Yeoman by 8 points to 6 points. Hove scored twice in the first half, by means of a try and a goal, but Brighton fought back with tries by STRATTON and REDBOURNE ; unfortunately the conversions failed.

Club Highlights
No new VPs or Honorary Life VPs this year but another one removed and so presumed passed – J.P. Sherwood.
D.J. Wilson takes over from K.M. Neal as Vice-Captain of the 1st XV; J.P. de l’Orme takes over Fixtures from E. Perry; Richard Lewis adds to his 1st XV Captaincy duties by becoming Team Secretary for the 1s. This is a new role – previously there was a joint Team Secretary for 1s and As but now this is split. The former joint Team Secretary – J.R. Bonner – continues for the As only.
J.P. de l’Orme continues as Team Secretary for the Yeomen.
In a similar move, the Team Secretary for the Bs loses responsibility for the “other” XVs and a new role of Team Secretary for Colts and Extra Bs is created.
R.D Burton takes over from Tim Ballard in the first instance and Geoff Schaverien takes on the new role. Peter. Larman takes over as ‘A’ Captain from D.H. Baldwin. Presumably R.D. Burton is promoted from last year’s ‘B’ Captain.
The “all change” continues with J. Bonner taking over as Vice-Captain of the A’s from S. Savery. The Yeomen are no exception to this clear out the old policy and they have a new pair of J.R. Williams and D.E. Stevens taking over from J.P. de l’Orme and R.D. Cahill respectively.
The Captaincy of the Bs sticks with R. Burton (who may or may not be the same person as the Team Secretary – who is labelled as R.D. Burton) but G.H.O Gordon is replaced as Vice-Captain Bs by D. Small.
Peter Larman takes over from Ian Stone as Assistant Secretary and K.M. Neal takes over from George Fawcett as Sussex County rep.
