The table below shows theresults for the season for the 1st XV. Over time I will try to capture lower XVs but it is a long job – so any help appreciated.
Sadly – very few actual results for this year and just an indication of W/L/D for most, if not all, of the games.

Club Highlights
CP (Charles Phillip) Lungley was made an Honorary Life Vice President (which is the equivalent to our current Honorary Life Member) and John Jenkin was elected a Vice President. Three VPs disappeared off the list and I can only presume they passed away: Dr W.A. Bourne (was only on the list for one year), Lt.-Col. N. Elliot C.B.E., J.P. and C Fawsett.
I also note that Jack Woolley is now listed as plain J.M. Woolley, M.B.E., T.D. whereas in previous years he was Cr. J. Woolley, M.B.E., T.D. Now, Cr isn’t an honorific that I can find but I do know Jack was a local Councillor at one time and maybe that is the meaning of it. M.B.E. is fairly straightforward as well but TD has me puzzled and I can only think of Teachta Dála which is a member of the lower house (Dáil Éireann) of the Oireachtas (Irish Republic government) – the equivalent of our MP. Was this so, does anyone know? The razor sharp of you will have spotted that he also seems to have gained an initial.
There were also changes in the ranks and these are detailed below:
- Dr McGuire took over from W./Cdr. J Lawson C.B.E., R.A.F. as Chairman
- Playing:
- Richard Lewis got promoted to 1st XV Captain and K.M Neal was Vice-Captain,
- J.R. Bonner took over Team Secretary for 1s and As from R.D. Cahill
- D.H. Baldwin and S. Savery took over as Captain and Vice Captain of the ‘A’ XV
- R.D. Cahill took over as Vice-Captain of the Yeomen from R. Burton
- R. Burton and Gavin Gordon took over as Captain and Vice-Captain of the ‘B’ XV
- Non Playing
- C.W. Wilson becam Press Officer, and George Fawcett remained as the sole Sussex County Rep..
