The table below shows theresults for the season for the 1st XV. Over time I will try to capture lower XVs but it is a long job – so any help appreciated.

Sadly – no actual results for this year and just an indication of W/L/D for most, if not all, of the games.

Below we have scans of the menu for the Club Ball. It seems to have been customary to get signatures of the guests – at least that’s what George Fawcett used to do – as this was his menu copy. This year the ball was set in honour of Jon Boreham who was one of the founder members of the Club.

Club Highlights

This year saw 3 new Vice Presidents elected to the congregation: K.J.M. Abrahams, J.T. Petrie and R.N. Rothwell. There were the following personnel changes (as far as I can detect!):

  • J.A. Coe was promoted from Vice-Captain and took over from Derek Hunnisett as Captain of the 1s leaving C.J. Lummis to take over as Vice-Captain
  • C.J. Le M. Lawrence and J.P. de l’Orme took over from P.E. Savary. Last year one person did all teams as Secretary but this year it has been split with the 1s and As as one group and the Extra As and the Bs as the other group
  • K.J. Field took over as Social and George Fawcett took over as A Captain with Pat Trantom as Vice. They replaced Pat Trantom and C.J. Le M. Lawrence respectively
  • C.A. Stuart and D. Elmes replaced T. Mortimer and A.J.Morgan in the Extra A and the new Bs were run by J.P. de l’Orme and A.J. Morgan
  • Off the field, Larry Larman and A.L. Abrahams split A.L. Abrahams’ earlier role into Assistant Secretary and Assistant Treasurer respectively
  • H.R Sherwood took over Schools from Gerry Woodage – and the remaining positions retained their incumbents.

I note that there were 19 people on the General Committee which to me is far too many. If everyone reported for just 10 minutes each you would be there for over 3 hours and that would be just listening to reports!

The 1960's saw the Club increase in size and secure 2 pitches on Nevill Rec.

Season: 1969-1970

Just two new VPs this year and none missing, A new 1st team Captain and all change for the Vice Captain in this last season of the 1960's decade.

Season: 1968-1969

Two VPs lost and two VPs newly elected. Jack Woolley also becomes a trustee. After a year out the 'B' XV return with more players joining the Club.
